COMMUNIST MANIFESTO? by Dyan Kane

I mentioned to my East Coast staunch Republican friend (SRF) that maybe if he read one of Obama's books, "Audacity of Hope", he'd be amazed at the brilliance, the ingenuity, the vision, the objectivity Obama displays, and thus wouldn't be so scared of an Obama presidency. SRF emailed back that he didn't have to read his book, that he'd already read the Communist Manifesto. SCARY.

Although I don't think Obama is steeped in Communism by any means, I do think he will take what's great from any nation with good ideas for helping the environment and sort out which might work here (as he would do for health care and health insurance, creating new "green" job markets, and using diplomacy, not war, to help leaders of "evil" countries to feel less alienated.) I think Socialism, not Communism, might be a better word to describe Obama's vision for a broken country, it's government, and the environment. It will be a hard road ahead no matter WHO gets in, but at least we'll have someone with impeccable speaking capabilities, intellect, charisma, and YOUTHFUL communication skills (i.e. the most advanced technologies available), as opposed to Mr. 72 year old McCain, who, in all due respect to a political career extraordinaire, represents LAST CENTURY's ways of doing things, not to mention a memory default that is extremely dangerous in our modern times. Reagan had the beginnings of Alzheimers (or at least dementia) when he took the oath of office. We cannot afford to have a man with a broken mind running this country again. Hell, we've had 8 torturous years of that with GWB.

An aside: Rush Limbaugh is running his mouth again. This morning, he attempted to
deflect McCain Memory Lag criticism (how many houses? 7, 8?) by pointing out how many 1/2 brothers and sisters President Obama has. Last count, 8. What does that have to do with United States politics, global warming, oil drilling, and fixing a broken economy after the 300 billion dollar deficit the Bush administration is leaving us with? Barack Obama, at every turn in the road, has shown eloquence, class, patience, brilliance. He was not ushered into office via an American dynasty as Bush was. He and his wife worked HARD for everything they have, even if they have just purchased a house as big as a mansion. And why not? He lived on food stamps as a kid, with no father to teach him what he seems to have naturally: courage, conviction, strength, intestinal fortitude. And look where he is now?!! He is black, yes, but he is also WHITE and let's not forget that! His candidacy is testing the rascist minds in this country BIG TIME. Some people simply will NOT VOTE FOR A BLACK MAN. PERIOD. No matter HOW BRILLIANT HE IS, and THAT is the only thing that McCain has going for him. Obama also did not pre-receive the Saddleback questions on his blackberry, as McCain did. His answers were honest and spontaneous, brilliant and thoughtful. McCain knew every question beforehand - how the HELL do you think he retained his composure so well? Have you ever seen that before?? I wouldn't be surprised if the latest "poison envelopes" received by the McCain camp were sent by Carl Rove himself, notorious for pranks like this all his career. The Republicans have been outted. The flagrant corruption under this administration is not unlike any other "third world" country we so scorn for failed, corrupt leadership. I can't wait to see what the hell George Bush will do with the rest of his life POST presidency. Probably the same as he's done for the last 8 years. Swagger around, balls swingin', all hat and no cattle while the rest of us clean up after his mess.

It's a new world coming, folks. Better get on board or you're going to miss out on something spectacular. And if Obama gets assassinated b4 or after his win, the whole world will mourn his passing and the sheer audacity of lost hope.
